Advocacy

The roots of all Independent Living Centers (ILCs) lie within the Disability Rights Movement of the 1970's - a movement initiated to enable individuals with disabilities to have the same life choices as non-disabled persons. Liberty Resources was created in 1980 through a local advocacy organization, Disabled In Action. In concert with the standards and assurances of all Centers for Independent Living, Liberty Resources maintains a commitment to work to continually advocate for the rights of individuals with disabilities.
